Hit a kerb hard, worried about hidden chassis damage

I took a corner too fast in the rain last week and clipped a kerb with the front wheel, hard enough that it jolted the whole car. The tyre and rim took the worst of it but the steering has felt slightly off since, pulling to one side and the wheel is no longer straight when driving straight. A neighbour had a look and said I should get the alignment checked but I'm worried there could be something more serious underneath, like a bent control arm or worse. I started reading about whether this kind of damage can actually be fixed properly and came across alzaabiautocare.com/can-chassis-damage-be-repaired/ which explained that it depends on the extent and whether it's the bolt on components versus the actual frame. That was helpful but I still don't know how to tell the difference without a proper inspection. Has anyone here had a hard kerb hit and what did it turn out to be? And is it worth getting a full chassis check or am I overreacting to what might just be an alignment issue?
